Is it possible to know God?

This is one of the most important questions we can ever ask. It is one thing to believe that God exists. Indeed many feel sure that there must be a supreme Being behind a universe which clearly shows evidence of order and design. However, it is another matter altogether to actually say that we can KNOW GOD.

The world's best selling book, the Bible, says that God is knowable. In fact, it encourages us to look for him:
'Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near' - Isaiah 55v.6
It tells us that He has revealed Himself to everyone in various ways;
THROUGH CREATION
'The heavens declare the glory of God ; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.' - Psalm 19v.1
THROUGH OUR CONSCIENCES
'...their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusingn now even defending them.' - Romans 2v.15
THROUGH CHRIST
' In the past God spoke ... through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son..' - Hebrews 1v.1-2

The Bible itself claims to be the inspired Word of God. From beginning to end it reveals God to us. It tells us why God seems so far removed from us and it also tells us how we can come to know Him in a personal way:

Perhaps you don't believe it is possible to find and know God, even if He does exist. We believe that the Bible shows it is possible and we have found this to be true in our own lives. Someone once said that we can't find God for the same reason a thief cant find a policeman - a thief isn't looking for a policeman!

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR GOD?
'"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you" declares the Lord' - Jeremiah 29 v.13-14

The greatest possible blessing is to know God!

If you have ever wanted to know more about the Christian faith, then why not attend? The weekly talks address topics such as, "Who is Jesus?" and "Why Did Jesus Die?".

We will be running another evening course regularly, the course will run on an evening for about 10 weeks. Each evening consists of an informal supper, followed by a DVD presentation, then a time of discussion. More information will be coming soon - for now contact us or visit The Alpha Course to find out more.
